Student-Built Social Emotional Learning Media
The best way to learn is by doing! At WellVentions, young minds develop social-emotional skills and real-world media production experience through content creation. From writing the script to posting it online—sharing the lessons they've learned with their community.
Whether tackling topics like healthy eating or handling bullies, young learners understand best when hearing lessons from their peers!
Rappersize
Students from the Vertus Charter School, wrote scripts and performed short video clips to highlight their original rap songs to share what they learned about Healthy Eating and Healthy Emotion with their peers.
Yum Ones - Comic Strips
WellVentions Students created a weekly comic strip series about healthy eating and managing emotional stressors. Published by Healthy Edge magazine, these comic strips appeared weekly.
Yum Ones - Videos
WellVentions students wrote innovative stories and filmed a series of three concept videos about a group of misfit fruits and vegetables who go searching for their families. Their journey takes them from the grocery store to the farm, where they not only encounter bullies, isolation for their food group affiliation, and disappointments along the way but also figure out how to navigate life's challenges. Stay tuned for more videos!
Story Minutes
Local teaching artists support our youth in developing and producing a series of edutainment-style media called “Story Minutes” (SMs). Using evidence-based strategies derived from trauma-informed care principles, our SMs address stigmas associated with discussing emotions and helping improve understanding of cognitive distortions, emotional triggers, and emotional regulation.
Pause Breathe Think
An important and healing process that allows us to master mindfulness and make better choices about how we respond to adversity. Check out our video, designed and produced by our young entrepreneurs, that teaches healthy ways to respond to stressful situations!
